Life Lately

Here are some grainy little snippets of what life has been like lately. We've been very busy since the holidays, traveling to Nashville and Indiana, then jumping straight back into work in January. I feel like we're just starting to slow down again. Last year, we were really mindful of taking photos every week together. We're doing the same this year, but also trying to record more videos of Max. I feel like he is changing so rapidly...I don't want to forget these days when he repeats every word we say to the best of his ability (even when he can't quite pronounce most letters, bless his sweet heart).

We're also aiming to go on at least one outing together a weekend. Tim stays home with Max during the week while I work full-time at Free People's home office in the Navy Yard. Needless to say, Tim is very ready for some extra help on the weekends. And I am eager to spend as much time with Max as possible. We've recently made the Please Touch Museum a regular activity of ours, and I can't recommend it enough if you're local to Philly! It's very fun, but probably geared more toward the 6 and under crowd ;) We also love Kids at Play, Smith Playground and NEST. We've met some wonderful families at these spots, which makes Philly feel a little more like home. Hooray that it's almost the weekend again! 

SINCE YOU STOLE MY HEART

It's funny to think of what life was like before Max. He is such a part of us, such a perfect extension of our family. It's hard to remember what we did before we shared our life with this precious boy. Our days together are simple. Running to the grocery store for snacks or driving to the thrift store to wander through racks of perfectly worn-in clothes. Mostly, though, we sit on the floor of our apartment and build Lego towers and read Brown Bear, Brown Bear for the 1,000th time. These quiet, normal moments are the most wonderful. They are the moments I know we will treasure when Max is all grown up. As parents, it is easy to get tired and worn out with the day-to-day. There are some days when putting Max down for a nap is an hour-long battle. Sometimes I get thrown up on after putting my favorite sweater on. But then sometimes I do something that makes Max crack up laughing (and then I do that thing a hundred more times in a row). And sometimes, out of nowhere, he will plant a big sloppy kiss right on my lips. Yes, there are hard and tiring moments mixed in with the perfect ones. But we are learning to laugh and not stress about the "hard" times. Because, really, all these moments are precious and very, very special.

Pumpkin Patch

Our family outing to our local pumpkin patch was wonderful. We went late in the evening, when the sun was shining just right. It was Max's first trip to a pumpkin patch. It was so special to watch him take in all the new sights. He loved touching the pumpkins. He also loved smiling at all the people who said hello to him.
There's also something sooooo precious about bundled up babies. Max in sweaters, vests, coats and beanies just melts my heart. I think we'll make another trip out here before the season is over. They also have a giant apple orchard that we have yet to explore! Experiencing all these autumn traditions with our baby boy is really something special.  

A Perfect Mom's Day!

Whether you were celebrating with your Mother, or if you were the Mother being celebrated...I hope it was wonderful.
This Mother's Day was super special to our family, seeing as it was Kylie's first!!
We went over to my parents' house and had a delicious dinner and showered my Mom & Ky with tons of gifts.

Kylie and I made this video yesterday.
We've been meaning to do this ever since Seth came home (8 weeks ago!).
We just wanted something to capture the start of their life together as a family.
It really is the sweetest thing.
And Seth...come on, man. Stop being so cute.


They're pretty darn adorable, right?!
I seriously love them all so much.
Matt & Kylie are such amazing parents already.
It's unbelievable how natural it is to them.

Well, I think that's quite the cute-family overload for today ;)

Hello, My Handsome Nephew!

Meet my darling new (first) nephew!
Seth James was born yesterday at about 12:30AM! He is 7lbs 2oz of pure cuteness!
I am SO proud of my twin sister Kylie, who was SUCH a strong gal throughout the whole labor.
Tim, my Mom and I were anxiously awaiting in the waiting room all night...
and when we finally got to meet the newest member of our family, we were thrilled more than words can describe!
When I first saw my sister holding him right after he was born, it was honestly one of the most joyful moments of my whole life.
She looked so beautiful holding her very first child.
We spent all day yesterday passing him around, cuddling him & giving him tons of kisses.
He is such a handsome boy & he has stolen our hearts already.
