Hair Tutorial: Sock Bun

Oh, the sock bun. It is my go-to summer hairstyle. You don't need to fuss with any bobby pins and it's so nice to have all your hair up and off your neck on hot days. So here it is - a super simple tutorial for a wonderful summer hairdo.

You'll need to start off by sacrificing a sock. Since my hair is quite long, I chose a longer sock. You might need to have a few sock casualties before you find the perfect one. Start off by snipping off the toe end of the sock so it becomes a tube. Starting from the toe end, roll your sock completely, creating a little doughnut-shaped bun.

ONE: Tie your hair into a high ponytail. TWO: Pull your hair through the center of the sock. Starting from the end off your ponytail, start to pull your hair over the sock as you roll towards your head. THREE: Tuck and cover the sock as well as you can as you roll all the way down. FOUR: The finished bun should cover the sock and be secure without bobby pins.

And there you have it! One of my favorite summer styles. Give it a try if you haven't before! I'm pretty sure you'll like it.

Hair Tutorial : Milkmaid Braids

A few of you requested a tutorial for this hairstyle, so here it is!!
It's super quick and easy once you get the hang of it.
And you only need a couple hair ties & bobby pins, so it's a pretty sweet deal ;)

//ONE// Start off by separating your hair into two braids.
I've found that if they're a bit looser, it's more comfortable to wear this hair style all day.
Tight braids seem to create an uncomfortable pressure on your scalp that is not comfortable to deal with all day.
So in order to avoid turning into a mean you-know-what halfway through the day - loosen those braids up!
//TWO// Pull one braid over and secure with 2-3 bobby pins. Leave the hair tie in.
//THREE// Now this is the fun part. Pull the other braid over. Then begin the game of "hide the hair ties and bobby pins as best you can"!!
It's really just a matter of adjusting and positioning the second braid.
I usually tuck the end (where the hair tie is) underneath the first braid.
Then I secure with a few bobby pins.
//FOUR// Add a pretty flower and enjoy!

Pretty simple, eh?
This is one of my favorite simple and semi-fancy hairstyles.
Hope you enjoy and try it out!

Hair Tutorial : 20s Inspired Finger Waves

I've got a special treat for you this evening!
My sister and I whipped up this fun hair tutorial video.
I've done the finger waves look a few times, and I always get lots of compliments and questions about it.
So I thought I'd share my technique!

Honestly, it was a bit of trial and error when I first started styling finger waves.
Most of the "how to" videos I found were really not that great...
I've found that the secret to it is to wet your hair before you put the pin curl clips in.
It really does make a world of difference.
Anyway, have a watch!

It's really quite simple once you get used to it.
It takes a bit of practice, but if I can figure it out...I'm sure all of you can as well ;)
Kylie & I are planning to make more hair tutorial videos in the future.
We really enjoyed making this one.
But let me know if you have questions about this style!

Beehive Ponytail Hair Tutorial

Alright friends, today's tutorial is one of my favorite "go to" hairstyles.
It's fairly simple, but adds something a little sweet and special to an everyday ponytail.
I love the way this looks with a casual outfit, but it also looks perfect with a fancy outfit ;)

You can make the bump as big or small as you'd like.
I decided to go a bit smaller due to, well honestly...weak bobby pins ;)

I used a lovely turban DIY video I found via Lune Vintage.
My new favorite is Moroccan Princess.

Hope you've enjoyed this tutorial!
Give it a go...try something new today ;)

Messy Bun Hair Tutorial

Hello friends!
Today I'm sharing a sweet & simple hair tutorial.
In case you haven't noticed...high, messy buns are SUPER popular right now.
That makes me happy because they're so adorable and SO easy and quick.

I know most of you probably already know how to do this.
BUT...my excuse is this:
This is my first hair tutorial and my husband (the master of photography for most of what you see on my blog) is still sick,
so I couldn't bear to see him suffer through me trying to figure out a complicated hairstyle!

The result is this!

Like I said...simple & sweet, right?
So if you're rushing out the door tomorrow morning
and don't have time to fix your hair...try this gem ;)
