Make It Yourself Monday : 2013 Memory Jar

How many of you caught yourself saying, "Where did 2012 go?!" at the end of last year?
I know I did.
It seems like time moves by so quickly, and special little moments are often forgotten over the years.
I, for one, hate forgetting special memories. So much so that I've been keeping a journal since I was 14.
Yes, I'm that nerd who sits down at the end of the day and writes out my thoughts and any notable things that happened throughout the day.
So for those of you who can relate to my memory-loss phobia, this project is for you!

It's pretty simple. The idea is to keep a jar full of jotted-down memories.
You add to it throughout the year.
And it is so easy. It's almost laughable that I'm putting this tutorial together.
But I thought I'd share the idea and shoot some photos of my finished product.



I bought my paint pen for $1.50 from a local craft shop.
It washes off with nail polish remover. Which worked out in my favor when I failed at my first two drawings (ha!).
For those of you using paint pens for the first time, I recommend getting a test glass to practice on.
See if your pen comes off with nail polish remover, rubbing alcohol, etc. It's nice to know just in case of a mess-up!

Make It Yourself Monday : Stenciled Umbrella

Today's Make-It-Yourself-Monday is the perfect accessory for spring!
I figured out how to spruce up a boring old black umbrella,
and I thought I'd share with you all!






Soon enough, you'll have your very own custom umbrella!
And just FYI, I used a flower stencil from Michael's.
Also, make sure you don't use too much ink when you're printing.
If there's too much ink, it will start to crack when it dries.

Also, I suggest spraying your lovely creation with Scotchguard when you're done.
It'll seal it up all nice & pretty. You can get it from Menards, Lowe's, etc.

Holiday Crafts & Giveaway Winner!

Now we've all got our minds set on Christmas!!
The madness has begun with those crazy Black Friday shoppers...
I'm not fully committed to this idea. I actually take wayyyy too long to shop.
I like to browse, compare, imagine how things would look on me/in my home.
So, taking me Black Friday shopping would be like taking your 89 year old grandmother, I'd imagine.

what SHE wore - red coat wonder.

my lovely sister and i went out on a coffee date this afternoon.
she's been in new jersey for the past few days,
so we were overdue for a twin date.



i just had to snap some photos of her. she looked too cute!!

she just bought this amazing red coat.

i'm stoked to have a new design.
i love the way they turned out.

and he's looking quite sharp with his tophat ;)





tonight will consist of a basketball game, some chicken stir-fry, and possibly a movie.
northwest indiana is supposed to get nailed with snow over the next few days.
so, i might have some cozy days inside this week!
i'm not complaining about that ;)

i immediately fell in love with the style and color of her artwork.

the crafts that kept me busy during christmas...

now that i've officially given out ALL my gifts this year,
